Morocco, Key gateway for world trade – Bloomberg Official
Morocco is a key gateway for world trade, said Erik Schatzker, Editorial Director of “Bloomberg New Economy”, which organized the prestigious eponymous conference on June 13 and 14 in Marrakech.
Morocco is a major gateway for global trade and a leader in climate action, Schatzker told MAP at the closing ceremony of “Gateway Africa” which held its first continental edition in Morocco.
On a continental level, Schatzker described Africa’s future as “promising”, despite the many forces transforming the economies, societies, and the world, including climate change, technology, demographics, and geopolitics. Issues of sustainability and resilience are now essential to every country’s future, he said.
Speaking via videoconference on Tuesday at the opening of the Conference, which brought together 200 world leaders, the head of Bloomberg expressed his gratitude to King Mohammed VI for holding the event in Morocco, before highlighting the Kingdom’s regional leadership thanks to the Sovereign’s enlightened vision.
Michael Bloomberg also noted Morocco’s role as a regional driving force, making the country an ideal choice to host the “Bloomberg New Economy Gateway Africa” event, and highlighted the Kingdom’s central position in resolving current global challenges, notably the climate crisis.
