Mali: UN helicopter blown over after landing in Gao injuring 11 onboard

A helicopter belonging to the UN peacekeeping Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) capsized Thursday owing to winds and injured 11 on board.
“One of our helicopters was blown over today after landing in Gao, northern Mali”, the Mission said on Twitter.
“This was not a crash. Crew and passengers are all accounted for with 2 seriously injured. They have safely exited the aircraft and are receiving medical attention. No fire reported”, it also said in a first count.
“After our helicopter was overturned by strong winds on the tarmac of #Gao airport, confirmed number of injured is now 11, including 2 critical & 9 lightly injured. Our hospital is providing them with medical care. We extend our heartfelt wishes for their swift recovery”, the mission said in an update.
There were 14 people including four members of the crew onboard. The incident took place after touchdown while the aircraft was rolling on the neighboring landing track.
The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) was established by Security Council resolution 2100 of 25 April 2013.
The Mission has around 12,000 boots on ground.
