Morocco, UAE discuss ways to enhance operational cooperation in matters of regional and global security challenges

Morocco and the United Arab Emirates have discussed ways to enhance operational cooperation to address regional and global security challenges and threats, notably the risks of terrorism and extremism in global conflict zones.

This came at a meeting in Abu Dhabi between Director General of Morocco’s National Police (DGSN-DGST) Abdellatif Hammouchi, who is on a working visit to the UAE at the head of high-level security delegation, and Director of UAE’s State Security Service, Talal Rashid Al Zaabi, the Directorate General of DGSN-DGST said in a statement issued this Thursday.

The meeting, falling in the frame of bilateral consultations on a range of issues of common interest, put a special emphasis on the risks of terrorism and extremism in the Sahel region in Africa.

The two sides also reviewed ways to enhance operational cooperation between their respective agencies in tackling cross-border organized crime, through the activation and implementation of joint security operation mechanisms.

Furthermore, the talks emphasized the need to diversify and expand bilateral cooperation, particularly through the exchange of expertise across all security domains, and to strengthen coordination and information sharing. These efforts aim to ensure a firm and proactive response to hostile acts that threaten the security of both nations.

Hammouchi’s visit, started on September 23, aims to strengthen security partnership and deepen bilateral cooperation between the two countries in areas of policing and security, DGSN-DGST statement said.
