Morocco: Over One Million Tourists in Agadir in 2019

Morocco’s Atlantic coastal city of Agadir welcomed last year more than 1,1 million tourists, including Moroccan nationals, up 6.4 pc from previous year, according to latest figures released by the local tourism center.

The number of Moroccan travelers who spent their holidays in Agadir’s hotels, tourism residences and centers rose to 436.794 in 2019, a 14.9 pc increase compared with the previous year.

The French tourists rank second totaling 213,982 holiday-makers, followed by the Germans (126,998) and the British (123,674). The four-star hotels received the largest number of tourists in 2019 totaling 340,304, followed by tourism clubs, five-star hotels and tourism residences.

Holidaymakers flock to Agadir throughout the year to top up their tans, particularly during winter when there are still blue skies and plenty of sunshine.

The city is renowned for its beautiful beach, its Kasbah dating back to mid-16th century, its marina, Grand Mosque, Amazigh Museum, Agadir Memorial Museum and Crocopark, home to Nile Crocodiles.
