Marco Rubio, U.S. next top diplomat, an advocate of sanctions against Algerian regime

The authoritarian Algerian regime is in a state of panic and anxiety since announcement by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump of the nomination of Republican senator Marco Rubio to lead the State department.

While announcing the appointment, Trump said Rubio, 53, would be “a strong advocate for our nation, a true friend to our allies and a fearless warrior who will never back down to our adversaries”.

Rubio has served in the Senate since 2011. The Florida senator serves as vice-chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee and sits on the Foreign Relations Committee. He ran for president in 2016 before dropping out and endorsing Trump.

Hard and very painful times are awaiting the feckless and corrupt Algerian junta (de facto rulers) with the return of Trump to the White House, the first President of a superpower that has recognized the Moroccanness of the Sahara before several others follow suit.

The Algerian authorities’ nightmare is becoming a reality as Senator Marco Rubio, who had called for sanctions against the tyrannical Algerian regime, becomes America’s next top diplomat. Rubio takes hard-line positions against Algeria, Iran, Russia, China, Venezuela…

In 2022, Rubio sent a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken calling on U.S. government to impose sanctions against Algeria, one of the top global purchasers of military equipment from the Russian Federation.

In his letter, the Vice-Chairman of the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence voiced great concern regarding the ongoing defense procurement between Algeria and Russia.

“Russia is Algeria’s largest military supplier. Algeria is also among the top four purchasers of Russian arms worldwide, culminating with a $7 billion arms deal in 2021. Influx of money from any source to Russia will only further enable Russia’s war machine in Ukraine. Yet, sanctions available to you have not yet been utilized”, said the Senator who rallied several congressmen pushing for sanctions against Algiers.

The Algerian authorities have launched smear campaigns against Washington following the U.S. recognition of Morocco’s full sovereignty over its entire Sahara territory and Rubio’s call for sanctions against Algeria.

Now with the return of Trump, the Algerian regime is in shock-and-awe. After suffering a series of international diplomatic setback over the Sahara, some experts say that their worst days are yet to come!
