Morocco’s date palm sector is set for a record harvest of 177,000 tonnes in the 2026-2027 agricultural campaign, an 11% increase from the previous year, injecting more than 3 billion dirhams in added value into the national economy.
The surge is driven by improved weather conditions and the progressive entry into production of modern farms.
The Drâa-Tafilalet region accounts for 83% of national output, with 56,000 hectares of oases and 6.49 million palm trees.
The sector supports nearly 2 million people, generates over 3.4 million workdays annually, and provides up to 60% of rural household incomes in oasis areas, according to agriculture ministry data. Exports exceeded 1,500 tons in 2026.
