Safran to set up new aircraft engine oil systems plant in Morocco

French aerospace group Safran formalized a significant new industrial investment in Morocco, announcing a 120 million dirham-project to establish a dedicated factory for aircraft engine oil systems and lubrication components in Nouaceur, near Casablanca.

The memorandum of understanding was signed during the opening ceremony of the Marrakech Air Show at the Royal Moroccan Air Force base with the Ministry of Industry and the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE).

The new facility, specializing in lubrication systems and oil tanks for aircraft engines, is expected to create around 100 jobs and will be located in the Midparc free zone, the core of Morocco’s aerospace industrial cluster.

This initiative builds on the earlier creation in 2026 of Systems Oil Safran Maroc, a subsidiary of Safran Aero Boosters capitalized at 108 million dirhams and based in Nouaceur, focused on the design, production, and commercialization of lubrication assemblies and related equipment.

Safran has been present in Morocco for more than 25 years and employs over 5,000 people across approximately ten sites, establishing itself as a cornerstone of the country’s aerospace sector.

In recent years the group has accelerated its commitment. In June 2026 Safran Electronics & Defense launched a 350 million dirham-extension of its Nouaceur site, adding 17,000 square meters and 15 new production lines with the potential to create 500 additional jobs over five years.

In October 2025 King Mohammed VI presided over the launch of a major LEAP engine complex at Midparc, comprising a maintenance, repair and overhaul facility capable of handling 150 engines annually and an assembly line for LEAP-1A engines destined for Airbus aircraft with a capacity of up to 350 engines per year.

Safran has also advanced plans for a large landing-gear production plant in Nouaceur involving more than 280 million euros in investment and the creation of around 500 jobs, with operations anticipated around 2029.
