Morocco’s aerospace sector has undergone a qualitative leap thanks to the far-sighted Vision of King Mohammed VI, transitioning from simple assembly activities to advanced manufacturing and engineering, Minister Delegate in charge of the National Defense Administration Abdeltif Loudyi said.
Speaking at the opening session of the 8th edition of the Marrakech Airshow, Loudyi described the aeronautics and space sector, along with its associated technologies, as an essential lever for the development of national industrial capacities.
He noted that the sector has recorded significant progress under the enlightened royal vision aimed at positioning the Kingdom as a global strategic hub for aircraft manufacturing and maintenance.
This ambition also encompasses the modernization of airport infrastructure to support tourism growth and prepare the country for major international sporting events.
The dynamic, Loudyi added, seeks to enable Morocco to contribute as an emerging actor to global production chains in the sector while enhancing its attractiveness to major international groups, including Boeing, Airbus and Pratt & Whitney.
The official emphasized that Morocco has implemented several measures, particularly on the legal front, to structure the sector and encourage investment.
In the specific field of the defense industry, he said the Kingdom has prioritized attracting foreign investment and localizing military-related technologies as part of its strategy to promote a national defense industrial base.
The remarks were delivered as the Marrakech Airshow opened its doors with the participation of nearly 200 exhibitors from 27 countries, highlighting Morocco’s growing role in the global aerospace and defense landscape and the continued expansion of its industrial ecosystem under royal guidance.
