Morocco’s Top Port Operator Q1 Revenue Goes Up 12.1% Driven by Container Traffic Growth

Marsa Maroc, the country’s leading port operator, handled 16.3 million tonnes of cargo during the first quarter of 2026, up 4% year-on-year, while consolidated revenue increased 12.1% to $ 155 million.

The Casablanca-based company said growth was supported by stronger domestic container traffic, reflecting the sustained growth of the Group’s port and logistics activities

The container traffic showed mixed trends. While domestic traffic posted 8% increase (319,311 TEUs) due to foreign trade momentum, transhipment traffic recorded 8% decrease (389,814 TEUs) showing lower activity in this segment at the port of Casablanca, following the prioritization of domestic flows in this port.

Bulk and general cargo traffic recorded growth, driven by the increase in liquid bulk traffic (+13%) as well as by the growth in solid bulk (+6%), notably supported by imports of cereals and animal feed. Ro-Ro and new vehicles traffic continued their positive trend, recording increases of 17% and 11% respectively during the first quarter.

During the first quarter of 2026, the Group invested about $ 269 million for the development of infrastructure and the acquisition of equipment of the new terminals at the port of Nador West Med.

The Group’s financial structure remains solid with important assets and net cash at its disposal, confirming the strong capacity of Marsa Maroc to finance its development program while maintaining sound financial balances.
