Morocco has voiced its steadfast support for the stability and national unity of Guinea-Bissau, stressing the importance of inclusive dialogue between the transitional government and all the socio-political actors of West African country.
At a meeting of the Peace & Security Council of the African Union, the Moroccan delegation said on Monday that “only a dynamic of consultation and mutual listening will consolidate peace and national cohesion, paving the way for stability and prosperity”.
The Moroccan delegation stressed the importance of engaging inclusive reforms of the security apparatus, based on the principles of good governance, and respect of democratic values to strengthen trust between citizens and national institutions.
The socioeconomic and humanitarian situation also deserves particular attention, said the delegation, citing in this regard persistent insecurity, population displacement, weak basic infrastructure and structural poverty affecting the most vulnerable layers of society.
The Morocco delegation called for a comprehensive approach combining peace, security and development, while strengthening the resilience of populations and their access to basic services.
Morocco expressed on this occasion its solidarity with Guinea-Bissau and all African countries engaged in political transition processes, stressing the need to address the causes of instability and create economic opportunities, especially for young people and women in order to strengthen national cohesion and overcome social challenges.
