King Mohammed VI Calls on Moroccan Pilgrims to be Worthy Representatives of Their Country, to Commit to Ideal Values of Islam

King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, urged Moroccan pilgrims to be worthy representatives of their country and its vibrant civilization, and to commit to the ideal values of Islam, including uprightness, proper conduct, solidarity, and sincere devotion to God.

“Represent your country, Morocco, and reflect the vibrant civilization for which my ancestors were renowned throughout history,” the Monarch pointed out in an address to the first group of Moroccan pilgrims heading this Monday to the Holy Sites of Islam for the pilgrimage of the year 1447 AH. This civilization is “rooted in unity, cohesion, and adherence to religious and national sacred values based on moderation, balance, and the unity of rite,” the Monarch stated further in the address that was read out by Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Ahmed Toufiq, at the departure of the pilgrims from the Rabat-Salé airport.

“Therefore, be worthy ambassadors for your country and seek to preserve its radiant image. Keep in mind that it is these values and principles which have enabled our country to enjoy security and stability, and to press ahead with its successful journey towards further progress and prosperity under my wise leadership,” the King continued.

The King also called on Moroccan pilgrims to commit to the ideal values of Islam, namely to sincere brotherhood, uncompromising tolerance, beautiful patience, and effective solidarity.

In his address, the Commander of the Faithful stated that he instructed the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs to prepare for the pilgrimage season, be it in terms of planning, organization, scholarly training, or spiritual guidance.

The King urged the Moroccan pilgrims in this regard to comply with the arrangements and guidelines established by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs to ensure their comfort during their travel and stay.

They are meant to enable them to perform their rituals in an optimal way, thanks to the multidisciplinary teams of specialists who will accompany the pilgrims, from the moment they depart for the Holy Land until their return to the homeland, the Monarch pointed out, noting that those teams include male and female religious scholars and guides, doctors and nurses who will be looking after the pilgrims, as well as administrative staff working around the clock to provide the necessary services they may require at any given point.

The King further reminded the pilgrims to comply with the organizational arrangements made by Saudi authorities to ensure pilgrims’ comfort, make sure the Hajj season is smooth and orderly, in keeping with the instructions and wise guidance of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

The King availed himself of “the opportunity to say how much I value the fraternal bonds between our two kingdoms and our peoples.”
