Another U.S. Congressman Backs Labelling Polisario Militias FTO After their Participation in Mali’s Terrorist Attacks

Republican congressman Tim Moore (North Carolina) has joined the list of U.S. lawmakers pushing for the designation of Polisario as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) with the emerging of evidences confirming the participation of the Algeria-backed armed militias in the deadly terrorist attacks launched against Mali.

The FTO bill was introduced in the House of Representatives in June 2025.
H.R. 4119 legislation has gained so far the support of thirteen members of the Congress including lead sponsor Joe Wilson.

They all call for designating Polisario FTO for its crimes committed and ties with Iran and its proxies seeking to undermine the peace and security of an ally of the United States.

A similar bill, submitted at the U.S. Senate by Ted Cruz, Tom Cotton and Rick Scott, is also gaining momentum. The Senators urge the U.S. administration to take actions against Polisario for its ties with Iranian regime seeking to turn the Algeria-backed separatists into the Houthis of North Africa.

Congressman Tim Moore (North Carolina) is a member of the House Committees on Financial Services and the Budget. He previously served as Speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives for a decade, driving transformative policies in the state – championing infrastructure development, education reform, and job creation.

A lifelong resident of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, Tim earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1992 and his Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 1995. After passing the North Carolina Bar Exam, Tim returned to Cleveland County where he has been practicing law for the length of his career.
