The Ministry of Health under the Government of National Unity in Libya has signed two cooperation agreements with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery and improving the national health system.
The agreements were formalized during a signing ceremony in which the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Hospital Affairs underscored the importance of international collaboration in addressing persistent challenges in the health sector, particularly efforts to enhance service efficiency and expand access to care.
The first agreement focuses on reinforcing primary healthcare services based on local municipal needs, with the goal of ensuring a more equitable distribution of medical services and improving care quality at community level. The second targets systemic improvements in maternal, newborn, and infant health through capacity-building, programme support, and enhanced service delivery for priority populations.
Authorities noted that the partnership reflects Libya’s broader commitment to leveraging international expertise to strengthen public health systems, advance development objectives, and support progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
