The Government of Niger has reiterated firm support for the Royal initiatives launched for landlocked Sahel States and for African countries bordering the Atlantic Ocean to boost regional development and economic growth leading to shared prosperity, peace and stability.
The supportive stand comes in a joint statement issued Wednesday in Niamey following the 5th session of Morocco-Niger Joint Cooperation Commission, co-chaired by the two countries foreign ministers Bakary Yaou Sangaré and Nasser Bourita.
Niger has reiterated its engagement for the implementation of the Royal initiative offering Atlantic access to the Sahel countries. The move seeks to unlock the huge economic potentials of these countries, strengthen their regional integration and cooperation against common challenges.
Niamey also praised the Royal initiative known as the “Atlantic African States Process” (AASP) aimed at fostering cooperation, security, and sustainable development among 23 African coastal states. It is designed to strengthen trade, economic integration, and maritime security, serving as a platform for 350+ million people to address common challenges like terrorism and maritime security along the Atlantic coast.
Morocco and Niger voiced commitment to build an exceptional model of inter-African cooperation, based on solidarity, mutual trust and win-win partnership.
They pledged to diversify their economic & commercial cooperation and encourage mutually beneficial public-private partnership (PPP) to serve as a benchmark for South-South cooperation.
The 5th meeting of Moroccan-Nigerien Cooperation Commission was crowned with the signing of 14 agreements destined to boost partnership in railways, road safety, logistics, infrastructure, trade, industry, agriculture, housing, youth, justice, academic and vocational training.
Talks between the two countries foreign ministers focused on various issues of common interest on the regional and international scene. They said cooperation between Morocco and Niger is gaining momentum,
mutually beneficial with promising prospects.
On the sidelines of the Joint Cooperation Commission meeting, Morocco’s FM was received in Niamey by President of Niger, General Abdourahamane Tiani.
On this occasion, Mr. Bourita conveyed to Niger Head of State the fraternal greetings of King Mohammed VI and best wishes for the progress and prosperity of Nigerien people.
For his part, the President of this West African country thanked the Moroccan Monarch for his acts of solidarity and initiatives launched for the development and stability of the Sahel.
