It is very hard to believe that France-24 TV channel does not verify the authenticity and accuracy of its sources through a combination of traditional journalistic standards and modern, technology-driven investigative techniques.
This international channel, which is funded by the French foreign ministry, has been caught red-handed again spreading fake news against Morocco. In its program “Face-to-Face” program, France 24 Arabic channel used a fake X account posting fabricated statement attributed to Moroccan foreign minister Nasser Bourita, alleging $1 billion donation to the US-led Board of Peace.
The bogus X account located in Algeria & operated by Algerian intelligence services was used by the French TV to spark and steer hostile debate against Morocco, founding member of the International Board of Peace. The Kingdom’s rising status in the New World Order taking shape is irking many countries in Europe, the Arab world and Africa.
Following Moroccans widespread outrage over France 24 scandal, the French TV channel apologized and recognized its mistake viewed by many as a serious ethical breach fueling disinformation campaign targeting Rabat’s geostrategic interests.
Last year, Elon Musk’s X launched a new feature enabling users to see the country where an account is based to “verify authenticity” of profile and increase the integrity of the platform.
The new location feature has exposed hundreds of the false X accounts operated by Algerian military intelligence agents assigned to disseminate fake news against Moroccan institutions and interests. The online Algerian fraudsters rile up other internet users. They bully and attack supporters of Morocco’s political, economic, social and sporting achievements.
According to some experts, it is very unlikely that an international TV channel like France-24 would have been fooled easily by a fake X account as the media outlet has strict verification processes and abides by the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) code.
