Tamwilcom has received the World Bank’s highest rating, ‘Highly Satisfactory,’ for its Innov Invest Fund, nearly a decade after the program’s launch to finance and support Moroccan startups. Launched in 2017 with financial and technical backing from the World Bank, the fund is implemented by Tamwilcom on behalf of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and has progressively covered stages from entrepreneur support to early-stage company financing.
Nearly 1,000 entrepreneurs have benefited from the program since its creation, while more than 500 startups have received financing, with over 590 million dirhams mobilized through grants, loans and investments. The fund has also helped develop equity financing for young companies: four seed and venture-capital funds structured under Innov Invest have injected more than 500 million dirhams into roughly 40 startups.
The program’s impact extends to technological innovation, with supported projects filing more than 40 patents, according to Tamwilcom data. Said Jabrani, the institution’s Director General, said the World Bank’s assessment recognizes the work carried out under the program and validates a model designed to bring financial solutions closer to the specific needs of Moroccan startups.
Tamwilcom plans to extend its support for young companies under its JOSSOUR 2030 strategic plan, with a stated goal of strengthening complementarity between the various public programs dedicated to innovation and entrepreneurship. That effort is expected to align with the Venture Building and Venture Capital offerings deployed by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform as part of the Digital Morocco 2030 strategy.
Innov Invest’s results were presented this week in Rabat at a ceremony attended by senior officials including Ahmadou Moustapha Ndiaye, the World Bank’s Country Director for the Maghreb and Malta.
