Morocco has introduced a groundbreaking organizational model for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025, giving each of the 24 participating teams its own dedicated base camp, a first in the tournament’s history.
Unlike previous editions where squads often shared hotels, Morocco’s plan provided every team with a fully privatized five-star hotel and an adjacent training center.
The allocation of these camps was finalized by draw in late January, ahead of the group stage draw, according to Jeune Afrique.
In total, 51 training pitches have been approved and assigned by the Confederation of African Football to minimize travel and fatigue.
The approach mirrors standards seen at the FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro, aiming to offer optimal conditions for recovery and preparation.
The logistical challenge was successfully met as Morocco managed 24 autonomous hubs with tailored security, catering, transport, and media protocols.
The organization is part of Morocco’s broader ambition to position itself as a global benchmark in sports hosting, ahead of co-organizing the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal.
