
Tunisian neurologist makes history as first Arab and African Vice-President of World Federation of Neurology
Professor Riadh Gouider, a distinguished Tunisian neurologist, has been elected First Vice-President of the World Federation of Neurology (WFN) at the World Congress of Neurology held in Seoul October 12 to 15.
His victory, achieved against an Australian contender, marks a groundbreaking moment for both Africa and the Arab world, as he becomes the first neurologist from the region to hold this position. The appointment recognizes his remarkable scientific achievements, leadership, and unwavering commitment to advancing neurological research and training.
As Head of Neurology at Razi University Hospital and leader of Tunisia’s Multiple Sclerosis and Alzheimer’s Centre, Professor Gouider has played a pivotal role in developing Tunisia’s neurological infrastructure and promoting scientific collaboration across the Mediterranean.
An elected member of the French Academy of Medicine, his election represents a milestone in Tunisia’s growing influence on global medical research.
