Morocco has recently welcomed two high-profile international film and television productions, reinforcing its status as a preferred destination for global filmmakers.
In Tangier, the American television series The Agency, produced by George Clooney for Paramount and Showtime, is currently in production.
The series, which centers on espionage and intelligence operations, utilizes Tangier’s urban landscape to represent various international settings. The city’s infrastructure and visual diversity make it a practical choice for complex, globally-themed narratives.
Meanwhile, director Christopher Nolan has chosen Morocco as a key filming location for his upcoming feature film The Odyssey, an adaptation of Homer’s epic poem.
Scenes were shot in Ksar Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its historical architecture and previous appearances in major films such as Gladiator and Game of Thrones. The film stars Matt Damon as Ulysses and includes a cast featuring Zendaya, Tom Holland, and Lupita Nyong’o.
Morocco’s appeal lies in its varied geography, established film production infrastructure, and competitive financial incentives. The country offers experienced local crews, logistical support, and a range of locations that can stand in for numerous global settings.
These two productions highlight Morocco’s growing role in the international entertainment industry and its capacity to host large-scale projects with global reach.
