The United Kingdom commended the leadership of King Mohammed VI in strengthening Moroccan-British relations, promoting regional stability, and fostering national development.
This position was expressed in a Joint Communiqué signed, Sunday in Rabat, following talks between Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, and the British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, David Lammy.
“Their Majesties King Mohammed VI and King Charles III continue to anchor Moroccan-United Kingdom ties,” the document emphasizes, adding that “their leadership has continuously fostered the stability and high-level commitment necessary to develop an ambitious, forward-looking strategic partnership.”
Regionally, the UK praised the initiatives launched by King Mohammed VI to foster peace, stability and socio-economic development in Africa, notably, the Initiative of the Atlantic African States Process and the International Royal Initiative to facilitate access for Sahel countries to the Atlantic Ocean, recognizing thus the Sovereign’s enlightened choice to make the development of the African continent a strategic priority, focusing on pragmatic and solidarity-based cooperation.
Regarding the King’s continued commitment to the Palestinian issue, the UK commends the “key role” played by King Mohammed VI as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee.
The UK also welcomes and supports the major reforms undertaken by Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, the Communiqué says.
