Algerian cyberattack hits Morocco’s social security database

A group of Algerian hackers leaked data from social security fund CNSS concerning 500,000 companies and 2 million wage-earners, in the worst cyberattack against a Moroccan institution so far.

CNSS has belatedly acknowledged the cyberattack while warning against disinformation and legal risks involved in sharing personal information that have been hacked.

The attack evidences the subversive war waged by the Algerian regime, whose mouthpieces have celebrated the hack as an inroad.

The Algerian hackers have also targeted the website of Morocco’s employment ministry.

Head of the Moroccan institution in charge of overseeing protection of personal data CNDP, Omar Seghrouchni, said this was the worst violation of personal data in Morocco ever.
