
Tanger Med industrial hub reports 174 billion dirhams in business volume for 2024
Tanger Med Port Authority has released its 2024 annual results, revealing strong performance across its industrial sector with a business volume of 174 billion dirhams and over 10 billion dirhams in private investments.
The Tanger Med industrial platform attracted 10.06 billion dirhams in investment during 2024 while creating a cumulative total of 14,034 new jobs.
Business volume generated by Tanger Med’s activity zones reached 174 billion dirhams, marking a significant 12.3% increase compared to the previous year. This growth was distributed across various sectors, namely the automotive sector which generated 117 billion dirhams, up 10.38% from 2023.
Other industrial sectors, including textile and aeronautics, accounted for 10 billion dirhams, representing an 11.11% decrease from 2023, while the logistics sector produced 46 billion dirhams, a 15% increase over 2023.
Additionally, 95 new industrial projects were confirmed at Tanger Med Zones in 2024, representing private investments of 3.63 billion dirhams and creating 11,239 new jobs. Major companies establishing operations included German logistics specialist Dachser, Polish automotive sealing elements manufacturer SFC Solutions, and American group TI Automotive, which specializes in engine supply systems and fluid transport.
Turkish auto parts producer Orhan and American automotive wiring specialist APTIV strengthened their presence through new industrial expansions.
The Tanger Tech Zone, developed across 87 hectares, welcomed four new companies in 2024, representing a total investment of 6.43 billion dirhams and creating 2,795 jobs. Among these new entrants is Chinese group BTR New Material, a global leader in the simultaneous production of anodes and cathodes for lithium-ion batteries.
Tanger Med’s activity zones encompass areas managed by Tanger Med Zones, a subsidiary of the Tanger Med Group, and the new Mohammed VI Tanger Tech City, managed by SATT—a partnership between Bank of Africa (BMCE), the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Regional Council, Tanger Med Group, and Chinese company CCCC-CRBC. These zones currently span 3,000 hectares, hosting more than 1,400 companies and creating nearly 130,000 jobs across multiple sectors including automotive, aeronautics, textiles, healthcare, agri-food, electronics, renewable energy, packaging, services, and logistics.
