Commercial transit at Ras Jdir border crossing between Libya and Tunisia resumes

A Tunisian customs official has confirmed that trade activities between Tunisia and Libya have resumed at Ras Jdir border crossing, accompanied by new facilities designed to streamline operations.

Issam Zureiq, the regional director of customs in Medenine, stated that commercial movement has recommenced without the imposition of new administrative procedures. This improvement was possible thanks to the Libyan authorities, who have established a special corridor dedicated to commercial traffic, significantly enhancing the efficiency of operations and facilitating the flow of trucks across the border.

Zureiq noted that several customs permits were accepted as of last Friday, marking a significant milestone in the revival of commercial activities. He emphasized that the security and customs authorities on the Tunisian side are maintaining their usual operations, ensuring a smooth transition as trade picks up. Further arrangements and protocols would be put in place in accordance with the agreements reached between the two nations.
