OCP Africa helps Mali develop sustainable agriculture
OCP Africa, a subsidiary of Morocco’s OCP Group, the world leader in plant nutrition solutions and phosphate-based fertilizers, will provide Malian farmers with customized solutions for the development of sustainable agriculture.
Under an agreement signed Thursday with Mali’s ministry of agriculture, OCP Africa experts will conduct scientific studies and carry out tests in experimental plots to deliver tailored solutions destined to improve soil health and fertility.
Afterwards, a digital map will be drawn for precise, targeted and smart fertilization offering the appropriate nutrients respecting the 4R’s principles: the right time, the right source, the right ratio and the right place.
Within the frame of this project, a new-generation Agricultural Service Centers will be set up to promote good agricultural practices and a digital platform will be established to facilitate the farmers’ access to agricultural value chains, while a mobile laboratory will provide soil analysis and advice directly to local farmers.
The OCP-Mali partnership, part of Morocco’s solidarity-based cooperation with African countries, also supports agricultural entrepreneurship among young people and women by promoting agriTech start-ups. This includes training and incubation programs for entrepreneurs with groundbreaking sustainable solutions in agriculture, horticulture, and aquaculture with the aim of improving yield, efficiency, and profitability.
