IED explodes in Tunisia’s restive Kasserine governorate wounding teenager

A 15-year old teenager has been wounded in the explosion of an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Kasserine, a restive governorate used as a hideout by terrorists, in Tunisia.
Abdelghani Chaabani, regional director of health in the governorate, confirmed Sunday December 17 the incident to Mosaïque Fm, in a statement to the media.
The explosion Chaabani added took place on Selloum Mountain, south of the region.
The teenager, according to the medical official, was wounded in the explosion while harvesting “alfa” on the mountain with his mother. The boy, Chaabani added, sustained slight injuries and has been going through treatment.
The mountains in the region are used as hideouts by terrorists who have planted IED to slow and inflict setbacks to security forces. Several children had been previously wounded in similar incidents.
Also in March this year, a Tunisian soldier suffered injuries in the explosion of an IED in the region. The explosion wounded his leg.
