Russia opens first Cultural center in Chad

Russia’s ambassador to Chad Vladimir Sokolenko inaugurated over the weekend the first Russian Cultural center in the central African country to bolster ties between the two countries.

Named “Russkiy Dom” the culture center located in capital N’djamena is an initiative of Chadian alumni of Russian universities.

It seeks to be a dynamic place for social life, where residents can express, design and carry out their projects, and aims to become a model in the field of continuing education thanks to a forward-looking vision of development, local media “Alwhida Info” reports.

The center will provide the teaching of the Russian language, stage events, provide translation services and tour guiding services.

Safia Ahmat Ibrahim, the President of the Center, said that the Russikiy Dom envisions to be a crossroads for Russian culture in Chad and beyond, offering a safe space for growth, education, learning, expression, encounters, and dialogue.
