Morocco, Russia explore enhanced connectivity at Montreal Aviation Assembly

Morocco and Russia have discussed ways of strengthening maritime, aerial, and terrestrial connectivity between the two countries, at a meeting on the sidelines of the 42nd International Civil Aviation Organization Assembly, held in Montreal September 23-October 3.

The meeting between Moroccan Transport and Logistics Minister Abdessamad Kayouh and Russian Deputy Transport Minister Vladimir Poteshkin reviewed growing bilateral cooperation in transportation sectors, with focus on developing civil aviation cooperation mechanisms between Morocco and Russia. The meeting explored opportunities for enhanced connectivity across multiple transportation modes, reflecting broader strategic partnership development between the two countries.

Morocco’s participation in the ICAO Assembly illustrates its commitment to sustainable development and civil aviation security. The Transport and Logistics Ministry emphasized Morocco’s determination to contribute to strengthened international cooperation in this strategic sector.

During the assembly, Morocco will present its candidacy for the ICAO Council, reaffirming its desire to play an active and constructive role in global civil aviation governance. This bid demonstrates Morocco’s growing influence in international aviation organizations and commitment to multilateral engagement.

The Moroccan delegation scheduled multiple bilateral meetings with officials from other countries and representatives from various international organizations. These discussions aim to strengthen technical and operational cooperation across diverse civil aviation domains, including safety standards, infrastructure development, and regulatory harmonization.

Morocco’s candidacy to ICAO Council reflects the kingdom’s strategic positioning as a regional aviation hub connecting Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
