Morocco reiterates imperative for political solution, inclusive dialogue to preserve Sudan’s territorial integrity

Morocco has called for a political solution and an inclusive dialogue to preserve the unity and territorial integrity of Sudan, and reaffirmed readiness to provide all the necessary support to help the brotherly country overcome this difficult period and build a future of peace, stability and prosperity that meets the aspirations of its people.

Speaking Friday before the Peace and Security Council of the African Union, Permanent Representative of Morocco to the AU and the UNECA, Mohamed Arrouchi, underlined that the kingdom, firmly convinced that violence and destruction are never a solution, advocates dialogue to restore trust and promote reconciliation between communities.

“We therefore call for an immediate end to violence in Sudan to guarantee the security of civilians and create the necessary conditions for the resumption of dialogue and peaceful negotiations to preserve the unity and sovereignty of this brotherly country,” the Moroccan diplomat stressed.

In this regard, he called on the Chairperson of the AU Commission to continue to use his good offices to step-up the resumption of dialogue between the various stakeholders.

“We urge all parties involved in the conflict to exercise restraint and endeavor, in a spirit of calm and compromise, to find a solution worthy of Sudan that will preserve its stability, unity and territorial integrity,” Arrouchi underlined.

The diplomat reaffirmed that the Kingdom is ready to provide all the necessary support to help the brotherly country of Sudan overcome this difficult period and build a future of peace, stability and prosperity that meets the aspirations of its people.

He added that supporting Sudan to reach a political solution should be guided by an assessment of the vital needs of the Sudanese people. This implies a holistic approach that considers the peace, security and development dimension to establish a solid basis for a lasting solution.

“We hope that all parties involved in the conflict will respond positively to this call and take immediate measures to end the ongoing hostilities and ensure rapid, safe and unhindered humanitarian access throughout Sudan,” the Moroccan diplomat said.
