AFCON2023 set from Jan.13 to Feb.11, 2024
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) set the kickoff of the Africa Cup of Nations, to be held in Côte d’Ivoire for January 13 next year and the closing for February 11.
The four-week tournament will start with the opening match scheduled to take place on Saturday, 13 January 2024 at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, the African governing football body said in a statement.
Algeria, Morocco, Burkina Faso, Senegal, South Africa, and Tunisia, booked their places for the tournament over the weekend.
Twenty-four countries are expected at the championship. This will be the 34th edition of the tournament and returns to Côte d’Ivoire for the second time after first being held there in 1984, where Cameroon emerged as winners for the first time, CAF said in the statement.
Senegal are reigning champions after beating Egypt in last competition that took place in Cameroon in 2022.
