Morocco to share its experiences with Palestine in social protection & training

Morocco has agreed to share its experiences with Palestine in social services provided to vulnerable people to ensure inclusive development and social peace.

An agreement was inked Monday in Rabat by Moroccan minister of Solidarity, Social Integration & Family, Mrs. Awatif Hayar and Palestinian minister of Social Development Ahmed Majdalani.

Under the deal, Morocco pledges to train Palestinian social workers on the use of digital technologies for a better and transparent management of the social protection field.

Commenting the agreement, Mrs. Awatif Hayar said it shows Morocco’s steadfast solidarity with the Palestinian people and the importance King Mohammed VI, chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, grants to the Palestinian cause.

For his part, Mr. Majdalani thanked Morocco for its support to the Palestinian people, saying the new cooperation agreement comes after the one signed in 1996 between Morocco and the Palestinian Authority in this field.

A follow-up committee will be set up to ensure the implementation of the commitments made, he said, hailing Morocco’s contributions to the Palestinian cause.

Last week, on the sidelines of the partners’ meeting to support the implementation of the Palestinian National Employment Strategy 2021-2025, held in Amman, Jordan, Morocco and Palestine signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation in the field of employment, vocational training, inspection, labor protection and occupational safety and health.

The MoU provides for the development of self-employment tools and small projects, the exchange of studies on the reality of the Moroccan and Palestinian labor market, the holding of training courses, and the exchange of expertise and know-how.

Palestinian Minister of Labor Nasri Abu Jaish, who initialed the MoU, affirmed his department’s willingness to benefit from Moroccan expertise in the fields of vocational training, health and safety, where Morocco has made significant progress.

Moroccan Minister of Economic Inclusion Younes Sekkouri for his part noted that the agreement is meant to develop relations with Palestine in the field of labor, employment and entrepreneurship, taking into account the specificities of the issue of employment in the Palestinian territories, which are experiencing a difficult situation.
