Egypt: Fighter jet crashes during drill
The Egyptian army announced Sunday that a fighter jet crashed during training on Sunday because of a technical error.
Army spokesman Gharib Abdel Hafez said the pilot and mate survived the crash. The official did not provide more details on the type of aircraft.
The Egyptian army lost several aircraft in similar incidents in the past. The army reported in June, December 2019, and November 2018 similar incidents in which the pilots managed to eject from the jets.
The cause of the crashes was also technical problems that were not detailed, and they all happened during training.
In a separate news, the British Red Arrows arrived at an air base in southern Egypt to take part in the Hurghada Air Show 2022 over the city of Sahl Hasheesh on Wednesday, Arab News reports.
Abdel Hafez added that the Red Arrows will join the Egyptian Silver Stars team for the event.
