DRC to hold presidential election on 20 Dec. 2023
Citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) will cast presidential vote on December 20 next year to elect new a leader or to give another mandate to incumbent President Felix Tshisekedi.
Denis Kadima, the Head of the independent election body, CENI, made the announcement Saturday as he presented the electoral timeline in the central African country.
The winner of the election is expected to be sworn in on January 20, 2024, Kadima also indicated.
President Tshisekedi has not made any announcement yet for a new bid.
The country will also hold legislative, provincial and local elections on the same day. Campaign will kick-start November 19, 2023 and will wind up on December 18.
The provincial lawmakers will be announced on February 14, same year.
Mayors and their deputies will be elected on May 27, 2024.
