Lawmaker close to ruling regime in Benin under investigation
Benin’s Central Office of Protection of Minors has launched an investigation against Nougbognon Hyppolite Hazounme, a lawmaker of Union Progressite Le Renouveau; a party ally of President Patrice Talon, reports say.
The office did not reveal the rationale behind the probe but Hazounme has been accused by his secretary of alleged rape.
The lawmaker reportedly tried to bride his victim and her husband in view of suffocating the affair.
An audio tape that local media Banouto accessed of a mediator who is also the lawmaker collaborator can be heard urging the victim who has not been named, to accept a deal in view of saving the image of parliament members and his family.
Moise Yehouenou, a municipal councilor, aka Delta Force, has been also summoned by the police for interrogation, local media 24 Au Benin reports.
