Gabon: Cabinet shakeup; Deputy Premier named

President Ali Bongo Ondimba of gabon reshuffled Wednesday his cabinet and appointed government spokesperson Alain Claude Bilie By Nze Deputy Premier, a position scrapped in 2016.

Rose Christiane Ossouka Raponda, Gabon’s Premier, reportedly proposed Bilie By Nze for the position to President Bongo. The position has not been filled since 2016. Bruno Ben Moubamba, opposition member, was the last official to occupy the position.

Bilie By Nze in addition to his new role, will still hold his department of Ministry of Energy and Water Resources.

Also as part of the reshuffle, President Bongo appointed Toussaint Kouma Emane, Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure.

The department was dissolved several weeks ago but was reinstated Wednesday.
