African Union: Rabat pleads for supporting peace, security & development in Gabon and Niger

Morocco has called on the Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union (AU) to support peace, security and development efforts in Gabon and Niger to ensure the success of the transition in these two African countries.

Addressing remotely a PSC meeting focusing on the situation in Gabon and Niger, Morocco’s permanent representative to the AU Mohamed Arrouchi said his country continues to closely follow developments in Gabon, stressing the importance of preserving peace and stability of this brotherly country.

The North African Kingdom trusts the wisdom of the Gabonese nation and its national institutions to move forward acting in the best interests of the country, building on the gains accomplished and meeting the aspirations of the brotherly Gabonese people, said the Moroccan Ambassador.

Regarding the situation in Niger, Mr. Arrouchi said Morocco continues to monitor closely the events in this brotherly African country, underlining the importance of maintaining its stability.

Morocco trusts the wisdom of the people and forces of Niger to preserve its achievements, maintain its important constructive regional role and work towards fulfilling the aspirations of its people, said the diplomat.

“Niger remains a key player on the regional and international scene. Its stability, prosperity and development are assets for our continent,” said Mr. Arrouchi.
