Skoda Auto turns to Morocco to secure cable harness

Skoda Auto is among the automotive makers who are looking to Morocco to supply cable harness to offset the production disruption due to the Russia-Ukraine war.

In a statement, Skoda Auto said it has secured additional production capacities of cable harness from Morocco and Romania which will add to a plant it has relocated from Ukraine to the Czech republic.

Skoda’s move highlights the competitiveness of the automotive ecosystem in Morocco which has been attracting auto makers and parts suppliers amid a disruption of supply chains.

“At ŠKODA AUTO, we have been working very closely with our partners over the past few weeks to minimize the impact of the war in Ukraine on the supply of cable harnesses,” the company said.

The automotive sector was Morocco’s largest exporting sector in the last seven years, with sales totaling $8.6 billion last year.
