Morocco’s Renault factory output up 9.3% in 2023

The Moroccan plant of French carmaker Renault reported a 9.3% increase in manufactured vehicles to 382,661, placing the factory as the second largest within the Renault group in terms of output volume.

The figures were given by head of Renault Maroc, Mohamed Bachiri, who said 90% of produced vehicles were sold in 68 countries.

Morocco-produced cars represent 17% of the group’s global revenue, he said, underscoring the dominance of the brands Renault and Dacia as the most sold in Morocco.

Most of Renault-made cars in Morocco were produced in the Tangier plant, while the remaining nearly 20% was manufactured in the group’s Casablanca plant, he said.

The plant aims to increase the rate of locally manufactured parts from 65% to 82% by 2030, said Bachiri.

In 2022, Renault accounted for 40% of Moroccan automotive exports of 10 billion dollars, he said, noting that the Moroccan car industry sector’s exports would increase to 14 billion dollars this year.
