Access to health services in Fez to be improved with new medical center

Access to health services in Fez, particularly in Zouagha district, will be improved with the setting up of a new community medical center.

Actually, King Mohammed VI on Wednesday launched the construction works of this community medical Center – Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity in Zouagha and gave his instructions for the construction of two similar centers, one in Fez and the other in Tangier.

The solidarity-based project, aimed at strengthening the health offer in the city of Fez, translates the Sovereign’s deep conviction that the right to access health services is one of the pillars of citizenship consolidation. It also mirrors his resolve to improve medical care services and to bring health infrastructures closer to the populations in high-density neighborhoods.

Such projects are part of the King’s efforts to promote access to quality basic health care for the poor, to speed up interventions in case of medical emergencies and to ensure periodic and regular medical monitoring of people whose health condition requires specialized and regular follow-up.

The new community medical Centre in Fez, worth 75 million dirhams, is part of a program led by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, which provides for the construction of ten community medical Centers across the Kingdom.

The program is meant to support the national medical sector, in particular by strengthening the existing supply of care, setting up a local care network and integrating a complementary social approach into patient support mechanisms.

Five community medical centers are already operational in a number of cities while others are under construction or are planned, mainly in Casablanca, Agadir and Marrakech.

During the launch of the construction works of the Fez project, King Mohammed VI instructed the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity to construct two additional community medical Centers in Fez and Tangier.
