Tunisia: Frenchman killed, uniformed serviceman wounded in knife attack in Zarzouna
A 28-year old man armed with a knife fatally injured a French foreigner on Monday morning in the Zarzouna delegation (Bizerte governorate). He had previously wounded a uniformed serviceman in the face, reports the state-run news agency TAP.
The foreigner was hit several times in the face, neck and chest and died of his wounds before arriving to the Habib Bougatfa University hospital, Regional Health Director told TAP.
The serviceman’s health condition is stable and poses no danger. He was transferred by the civil protection services to the Bizerte Military Hospital.
In a statement to TAP, Spokesperson for the Interior Ministry Khaled Hayouni said that the attacker was identified and that he was involved in other common law cases.
All possible means have been mobilised to arrest him and elucidate the motives behind the attack, the Spokesperson said.
It is not clear if the attack is a terrorism-related act.
