Morocco shows the Way for Agricultural Development in Africa- Guinean President

Morocco shows the way for agricultural development as a vector for overall development in Africa, said Guinea’s President Alpha Condé.

Président Condé, who was speaking at the SIAM Agricultural Fair in Meknes, said that Morocco’s return to the African Union offers a chance to share expertise and know-how on agricultural development.

“The return of Morocco to the African Union will add fresh impetus to the efforts aiming at promoting solidarity between African peoples,” said President Condé, who is the current chairman of the continental organization.

Morocco stands as an example to follow by several African countries willing to develop their agricultural sectors, he said, adding that the Agricultural Fair hosted in Meknes offers a chance for bolstering inter-African south-south cooperation with a view of achieving sustainable agriculture and food security in the continent.

The ongoing ninth edition of the Agricultural fair is bringing together professionals, decision makers and scientists who tackle a set of issues relating to agricultural development with a focus on water management and sustainable agriculture.

The development of sustainable agricultural practices has been a key component of Morocco’s economic diplomacy in Africa. During King Mohammed VI’ tours in Africa, key agreements were signed notably with Ethiopia and Nigeria to build fertilizers factories geared towards boosting agricultural output and meeting food security goals in the continent.
