Qatar to Invest $239 Mln In Green Jet fuel Facility in Morocco

The Doha-based Green Sky Capital will invest $239 million a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production plant to be built in Morocco’s Nador West Med port complex, according to press reports.

The projected facility is designed to process used cooking oil, fats, and regional residues into green jet fuel using French Axens’ licensed Vegan HEFA technology. The plant targets an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons of SAF.

This major energy project is also support by Saudi Arabia’s Vision Invest firm, the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development and the UN Green Climate Fund (GCF).

The plant will use the Hydro-processed Esters and Fatty Acids (HEFA) technology to produce premium-quality green jet fuel and renewable diesel. This advanced second-generation Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) solution helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional jet fuel.

This project aligns with the strategic commercial rollout of the Nador West Med port, which launched its commercial container shipping operations in September 2026.

The port’s complex has raised funds via corporate bonds and local banking syndicates to position the Oriental region as a premier green energy and logistics hub bridging African and European maritime markets.
