Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani appointed a new Cabinet on Saturday evening, replacing ministers responsible for Defense, Interior, Economic affairs and Energy, according to the Mauritanian News Agency.
The 29-member Cabinet, excluding the Prime minister, retains Foreign Minister Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug and Justice Minister Mohamed Ould Soueidatt.
The appointments followed Prime Minister El Moctar Ould Djay’s resignation on Friday morning and his reappointment later that day with a mandate to form a government. Authorities gave no reason for the resignation.
The new Government will continue the President’s program, focusing on social protection for low-income citizens, youth training and employment, and development across the country.
