Libyan regulators discuss stronger financial market oversight

Libya’s Administrative Control Authority and Capital Market Authority have discussed ways to strengthen financial market supervision, improve regulatory compliance and protect investors.

The talks took place in Tripoli this Wednesday, 30 September 2026, when the Head of the Administrative Control Authority, Abdullah Qaderbouh, met the Chairman of the Capital Market Authority’s Management Committee, Osama Al-Salabi.

According to the Administrative Control Authority, discussions covered the Capital Market Authority’s supervisory responsibilities, including oversight of financial markets, non-banking financial instruments and activities, and entities operating in the sector.

The officials examined ways to improve compliance with legislation and regulations, promote transparency and disclosure, and strengthen governance to safeguard investors and other market participants. They also discussed developing inspection and supervisory mechanisms, alongside the exchange of information and expertise between the two institutions. These efforts would help improve operational efficiency, identify risks associated with non-banking financial and investment activities, and address them within existing legal and regulatory frameworks.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Capital Market Authority’s Management Committee, Mahmoud Bin Taher, and the Head of the Administrative Control Authority’s Inspection Department, Mohamed Al-Sharqawi.
