FIFA Endorses Morocco’s Youth Football Training Program as a Model for Africa

FIFA has expressed strong admiration for Morocco’s national youth talent development program and is considering adopting it as a training model for other African countries, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) announced. The endorsement follows two working visits by FIFA delegations to evaluate the program’s structure and results firsthand.
During their visits, FIFA representatives toured the academies of several prominent Moroccan clubs including Wydad Athletic Club, Raja Club Athletic, Fath Union Sport, and Renaissance Sportive de Berkane. Delegates praised the quality and scope of youth development work being carried out at each institution, signaling that Morocco’s approach has caught the attention of global football’s governing body.
To build on this momentum, FIFA has announced a dedicated conference scheduled for April focused on advancing the training capabilities of Moroccan coaches and development staff. The initiative forms part of FIFA’s broader international talent development program across the African continent.
Beyond knowledge sharing, FIFA has committed financial support to selected clubs participating in Morocco’s national program, channeled through the FRMF. The funding will target the modernization and upgrading of club facilities, with allocations tailored to the specific needs and requirements identified within each club’s development plan.
The recognition arrives at a pivotal moment for Moroccan football, as the country prepares to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup. Building a sustainable pipeline of homegrown talent is central to Morocco’s long-term footballing ambitions, and FIFA’s decision to spotlight the FRMF program as a continental benchmark validates the investment the Kingdom has made in grassroots development infrastructure.
