SAHARA: BAHRAIN REAFFIRMS STEADFAST SUPPORT FOR MOROCCO TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY

Bahrain has reiterated its unwavering support for the Moroccan Sahara and the autonomy initiative offering a realistic, feasible and lasting solution to the five-decade Sahara regional conflict.

The supportive stand was expressed by chairman of Bahrain’s Shura Council Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh during a meeting he held Tuesday in Manama with Speaker of the House of Councilors Mohamed Ould Rachid.

Bahrain has also welcomed the historic UN Security Council Resolution 2797 describing as it as an important step towards reaching a realistic political solution to the Sahara issue.

Talks between the two parties focused on parliamentary cooperation between of the two countries sharing long-standing fraternal relations based on solidarity, mutual respect and continuous coordination on various issues of common interest.

The Chairman of the Bahraini Shura Council hailed the strong historical ties and partnership set between the two Kingdoms, praising Morocco’s efforts engaged to advance joint parliamentary coordination between Arab and African countries.

For his part, Mohamed Ould Rachid lauded the role played by Manama in Asia as Bahrain takes over the rotating presidency of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly starting January 2026, saying he is confident that Mr. Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh will enhance further joint parliamentary action and cooperation between Asian parliaments.

The Speaker of the House of Councilors also stressed the importance of building bridges of cooperation between Africa and Asia and voiced readiness to contribute to strengthening inter-regional parliamentary partnerships and supporting South-South dialogue for shared peace, development and prosperity.
