South Africa’s Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie has recognized the success of the 2025 Africa Nations Cup Morocco is hosting, saying he is impressed by the “exceptional” and “ the world-class” tournament the Kingdom is delivering.
In a letter posted on his X account, the South African minister dealt a hard blow to the Algerian regime’s misleading campaign and smacked even Head coach of Bafana Bafana Hugo Broos for his unfair and false remarks over the organization and logistics of AFCON Morocco 2025.
Mr. McKenzie commended “the professionalism” of the tournament structures and the overall atmosphere across the host cities, saying Morocco has raised the bar very high and showcased Africa at its very best.
“I have been particularly impressed by the standard of the facilities provided to the participating teams. The hotel arrangements have been excellent, offering comfort, security and an environment that allows elite athletes to prepare and perform at the highest level”, said the minister, noting that transport logistics – from the modern, well-equipped team buses to the efficiency of movement between training sites, stadiums and accommodation – have reflected meticulous planning and significant investment in infrastructure.
Across Rabat, Casablanca, Tangier, Agadir, Fes and Marrakech, the stadiums themselves stand out as symbols of Morocco’s ambition and capacity, underlined the South African minister, praising the high quality of the pitches allowing African football to be expressed in all its technical and tactical richness.
Mr. McKenzie also hailed the organisation and hospitality around AFCON, the warm welcome extended to delegations, officials, media and supporters as well as the professionalism of security, volunteers, and local organising teams who created a safe, enjoyable and vibrant environment.
“The friendliness of the Moroccan people is felt everywhere– in the stadiums, in the streets and in the hotels,” said the minister, affirming that this tournament is more than a continental championship; it is a powerful demonstration of Morocco’s readiness to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Morocco is sending a clear message to the world that Africa can host major global sporting events at the highest international level.
