Egypt has finalised nationwide preparations for the second phase of the 2025 parliamentary elections, with more than 34 million eligible voters set to cast their ballots on 24–25 November.
The Ministry of Local Development has deployed round-the-clock operations rooms, intensified inspections across polling stations, and implemented comprehensive logistical measures to ensure a seamless, secure voting environment. Governorates have enhanced facilities with lighting, ventilation, cleanliness, and accessibility services, including support for elderly voters and persons with disabilities.
The National Election Authority (NEA) confirmed that 1,316 candidates are competing across 13 governorates for 142 party-list seats, supervised by 9,200 judges drawn from key judicial authorities. Results in this phase will be announced on 2 December, followed by scheduled run-offs and the release of final outcomes on 25 December. Meanwhile, the NEA has annulled results in 19 constituencies from the first phase due to reported violations, prompting re-runs in early December. The decision, taken independently of the president’s subsequent directive, has been widely regarded as a commitment to safeguarding electoral integrity.mulia288
President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has urged the NEA to exercise full diligence in verifying the true will of voters, calling for decisive action wherever irregularities are suspected. His intervention followed the circulation of videos alleging misconduct in several districts, prompting calls from observers for broader political and electoral reform. The newly elected House of Representatives, comprising 596 members, is expected to convene before the current chamber’s mandate ends in January 2026, in line with constitutional requirements.oyo88
