The first Agro Export Day held in Casablanca on Wednesday highlighted the key role played by the agri-food sector in promoting Morocco’s economy and exports.
The event, themed “Made in Morocco, Desired Worldwide, Exporting Moroccan Quality,” attracted over 200 public and private stakeholders as well as agri-food marketing experts from six African and four European countries. It showcased Morocco’s dynamic agri-food sector and emphasized how the sector strengthens international commercial exchanges.
Morocco’s agri-food sector, an economic cornerstone, comprises 27% of the country’s industrial companies with over 2,600 firms. The industry generated an estimated 191 billion dirhams in 2024, representing 22% of industrial GDP, while employing approximately 206,000 people.
Abdelmounaïm El Eulj, President of the National Agri-Food Federation (Fenagri), explained the sector contributes to food sovereignty while consolidating industrial strength, covering 77% of national food requirements and demonstrating strategic capabilities addressing food security challenges.
Industry and Commerce Minister Ryad Mezzour highlighted exceptional “Made in Morocco” potential in agri-food exports and noted that Morocco ships products to 153 countries. He stressed the need to strengthen further national brand valorization to ensure proper commercialization and fair compensation. Moroccan operators excel in innovation and production processes, requiring intensified efforts for genuine brand premiums and inclusive development, he said.
The event featured three strategic convention signings between Fenagri and partners including the Moroccan Export Insurance Company (Smaex), the Souss-Massa Regional Investment Center, and the Italian Farmers Association. These agreements seek to facilitate export financing, encourage international partnerships, and support sector growth.
Processed agri-food product exports reached 43.2 billion dirhams in 2024, with presence across 150 countries including 20% destined for African markets. The platform enabled Moroccan producers to meet African and European buyers through organized speed meetings, exploring new partnership opportunities.
The event, organized by Fenagri in partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency (AMDIE), aims at positioning Morocco as a strategic export hub linking Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.
