Morocco’s mobile connectivity reaches record 58.8 Million subscribers
Morocco’s telecommunications sector demonstrated robust growth during the first half of 2025, with mobile phone subscriptions reaching 58.8 million, marking a 3.2 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024. According to the Department of Economic Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF), this achievement represents a historic milestone for the kingdom’s digital infrastructure development.
The mobile penetration rate climbed to 159.5 percent by June 2025, substantially exceeding the 152.4 percent recorded twelve months earlier and dramatically surpassing the 127.1 percent penetration rate from mid-2019. This expansion occurred despite moderating growth rates, with the current 3.2 percent increase comparing to 5.2 percent growth during the corresponding period last year.
Internet connectivity showed even stronger momentum, with subscriber numbers approaching 41.2 million by June 2025, reflecting a 5.2 percent annual increase. While this growth rate decreased from the previous year’s 6.9 percent expansion, it demonstrates sustained demand for digital services across Morocco’s population. The internet penetration rate reached 111.8 percent, up from 104.8 percent in June 2024 and marking significant advancement from the 66.2 percent recorded in June 2019.
These telecommunications metrics underscore Morocco’s progress in digital transformation and infrastructure modernization. The sustained growth in both mobile and internet subscriptions reflects increasing digital literacy, expanding network coverage, and growing demand for connected services across urban and rural areas.
The telecommunications expansion supports Morocco’s broader economic development objectives, facilitating digital commerce, remote work capabilities, and access to online services. As connectivity becomes increasingly essential for economic participation, these penetration rates position Morocco favorably among emerging markets pursuing digital economy strategies.
