Tripoli and Ankara ink MoU in law enforcement, crime prevention

Turkey and the Libyan Government of National Unity signed a Memorandum of Understanding providing for strengthening security relations and enhancing the exchange of expertise in law enforcement and crime prevention.

The MoU was initialed by Acting Minister of Interior for the Government of National Unity, Emad Al-Trabelsi, and his Turkish counterpart, Ali Yerlikaya, during the Saha Expo 2024 in Istanbul.

The two ministers also discussed streamlining visa procedures for Libyan patients and students, alongside various matters of mutual interest. They emphasized the need to enhance security cooperation to safeguard shared interests and bolster regional stability. Their talks included strategies for collaboration in security training and qualification, as well as information sharing to combat terrorist threats and organized crime.

The Libyan official also met with Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır. They explored opportunities for Turkish support to the Ministry of Interior in technological advancements and improvement of operational effectiveness across various ministry sectors.
